I'm now running v4 after you guys kindly helped me migrate. I've got a little confused as to whether protection works as it did in v3 - . I have a protected folder and there are folders within it holding pdf files I want to protect. Are all the subfolders protected for a product if you assign access to the top-level folder to that product? I am pretty sure it worked in v3 but as I said I am now not sure. Also are categories working ok in v4? Thanks all - It's great to be on the new version.
1. It is not recommended to nest protected folders. Behaviour is unpredicatable and depends on hosting settings. 2. Categories works fine
I have been trying to solve this for days. I thought it was the folder within folder protection causing the problem. Which I have now corrected. I have a pretty simple setup. Two Products/Paid Memberships have access to several files containing pdfs and videos. One Product/Complimentary has free access to another protected file. When logged in as either, in v3 if they clicked on a pdf or file other than their own it would link to a sign-in page saying something like you do not have access to this. I now keep getting into a loop ending in 'to many redirects occurred ...'. I thought it may be one of my files that have refresh/redirect but I have removed them all I think. I have been wondering if the fact that I couldn't set up the cron job was having an affect. I have been waiting for Anton (CGI-Central customer support) to do this. He has now done that but I still have the warning message on Dashboard saying ' .... not correctly setup .....may cause serious problems. Checked the cron job tab in members area and says .... no failures .... last success today at 07.30. I can't believe I can't sort this out. I'm not doing anything too complicated. Still don't understand groups - have assigned two products I want hidden to 'hidden' category but filter 'hidden' I get all products. Perhaps my amember has got corrupted along the way. Maybe I need a fresh install. I jumped the gun and requested the migration the day before you announced your guide to migration. That would have been useful at the time. I am very conscious that it was recommended at the time that migration was not a good idea for live sites - did I listen? Just so impressed with new version. Your help is always much appreciated.
Dear ak38avk, we will have closer look to your install tomorrow, and I promise all the problems will be fixed. Sorry that it took so long!
