Hello all - hopefully someone can help me...

I have a paid subscription and a free subscription, both going to the same product URL.

The payment page uses PayPal and when someone pays they are then given access to the members area.

However, when people use the free sign up link (www.millionaireprepschool.com/giveaway/) they get a message indicating:

I just tried myself and was given immediate access, but then when I logged out I couldn't get back in, getting the above message, even though it says in the admin panel that my account is good through Aug 31 2008, per the settings on the product item itself.

Can someone please help? I am getting lots of questions from these FREE users about why they can't access the member area.

    Thanks,
    Paul

Are you sure you have the correct URL on the product setup for the FREE offer?

Check your settings for both the free and prepaid offer and compare them carefully to make sure they are the same except for price and duration

The only values that are different are the price and the price group ID. I have quintuple checked all other settings and they are the same as the paid membership area.

    I am very confused...

Did you check the dependencies? Also when checking URL's make sure case is the same/
If all seems correct I'd suggest. I'd suggest you go into your MYSQL admin tool in your HOSTING control panel and query the two separate product fields to check for any differences that may have been caused by miswrites to the database on product creation.

I am not sure what you mean by "dependencies" in this system... Can you elaborate?

FYI - I just "re-created" the free membership using the "copy" function. So I copied the paid membership (all URLs, etc are copied over automatically), then simply changed the price to $0.00 and the price group id to -11.

    Same problem.

I have a ticket in with Help Desk...

    Thanks for your help calisolllc.

    Resolved

Thanks to amember support, here is the answer to this problem:

I did not realize that each product needed to be approved at the directory level, in addition to assigning the product to the protected URL.

Once fixed, all accounts regained access to the full member's area.

Glad you got it sorted out Paul.
You asked what are dependencies...... exactly what support told you. The two config lists at the bottom which state ANY subscription required. Or subscription to product A required for a subscription to product B etc etc
