    Hi

I purchased the joomla plug in yesterday and had it installed. All appeared fine, but today I am experiencing almost exactly the same problem as discussed here: http://www.amember.com/forum/showthread.php?t=4456&page=2

Unfortunately, the answer to the problem is not posted on that thread.

Having read and re-read the details on Joomla Plug ins for the millionth time I have got myself totally confused.

My membership site is a paid membership site. they start at a standard html site, then when they join they go to the Joomla part on another directory members_only

Joomla uses CB extensively for forums etc

Now.. one part of amember says that plugin is no good for paid subscriptions if you use CB. Then on the joomla plug in there is a mambot to enable the use if cb with the plug in I purchased.

Joining on amember puts the customer into the joomla database and they show as a registered user. However, they never show as logged in and when you try to log in it says incorrect username and / or password.

I would appreciate any help on this.

    Regards

    Russell

    Hi

Update to this... If a new member registers (only done tests so far) Then everything works.

    Existing members have the problem

    Hi Russell - It's James

Joomla and Community Builder use different user tables.

that's why there are two amember plugins available for Joomla.

    1. If you are using the joomla registration - you're using the amember joomla plugin.

    2. You are using Community Builder you have to use the amember Community Builder Plugin.

The reason you are having trouble is that the plugins work the reverse of each other.

The amember/joomla plugin actually uses amember to register the user and then amember updates the joomla user tables.

The amember/community builder plugin works by community builder updating the amember user tables AFTER they register in Community Builder.

The bottom line is that you can't control the registration of users and access to joomla content based on their registration status with the amember/community builder plugin. You can only use amember standard protection like php_include, new rewrite, .htaccess etc. on additional files that you may have linked as content items in your joomla site

Think access to video licenses as an example.

the only way to control registration access to your joomla site with Amember is by NOT using Community Builder Plugin.
