Hello, I am not new but need to ask some basic questions about Amember Affiliate program that I couldn't find answers to in FAQ or forums..

    1. When an affiliate refers a user and that user buys the advertised product, the affiliate gets a commission. Is the affiliate tied to this only to the purchase of this product? or is the affiliate tied to the entire member_id of the referred user?

For example, I have product A that I want to offer commission to all of my basic affiliates. Then I have product B that I want to offer commission ONLY to a small group of joint venture partners, NOT all of my affiliates. If my basic affiliate sends a user specifically to purchase Product A, he will get product A commission. But if that referral later on buys an unrelated Product B, does affiliate also get a commission for Product B?

    2. Is there any way to restrict which affiliates are allowed to receive commission for certain products?

    Thanks for any insight here!

    Hi Scott,

aMember stores the ID for the referring affiliate in the member table with the member record. As such, I do not think it's possible to reward commissions on a product to only a select group of affiliates.

To do that, aMember would need to have "affiliate groups" or "levels", which it currently doesn't have.

To accomplish what you want, a 3rd party affiliate program would need to be integrated with aMember. I know there's an integration module for iDevAffiliate and I've heard there's one for Post Affiliate Pro, and maybe some others.
