Hey guys...i just set up my site w/ amember and am ready to launch it next week. I have the recurring billing going monthly via paypal...My question is: How does the customer cancel their membership when their ready to cancel...Do they stop it from their credit card company or do they have to contact me to cancel their membership? Just wondering how that works... Any help you provide is appreciated...Is there an html button from amemember that will cancel their subscription? Sort of like the logout button? Thanks Randy
On the aMember members page there is a cancel link that brings them back to paypal. They either need to cancel their payment in paypal themseves, or send you a note and you will need to do it. David
No unsubscribe link I don't have an Unsubscribe option on my Amember page. Are you talking about the page you see when you log in that displays your current membership and let's you renew/add a subscription? I'm using 1shoppingcart instead of Paypal. Does that matter? Thanks Ted
I think David's referring to the cancel link in the paid scubscriptions field on the member's page. I have a question that's so similar to this though that I thought it best not to start a new thread. My product uses paypal_r for a 12 month subscription. I sign up for it fine, and pay via paypal. All works well. But when I go to cancel, it takes me to paypal, I log in and paypal tells me I have no current subscriptions -- my payment for the sub through amember appears as a one off payment. Is this how amember works -- I.e. amember re-bills when teh subscription expires, but to paypal it looks like selarate transasctions? If so, how do I avoid sending them to paypal and seeing this error? Many thanks -- Richard.
It sounds as if you havent set up the product for recurring subscriptions. Did you check the recurring box in the product? David
Think so.. Price $1, duration 12 months, recurring billing checked. Product url etc filled in of course -- don't require anything, don't prevent anything, all else blank. Shouldn't that work? Sounds like you;re saying that the transactoin in paypal should in fact be set up as recurring by amember, so the cancel would then work. Don;t see anyting inthe log to suggest an error either. Hmph.
So they get billed $1 every 12 months? Think you want Price $1, duration 1 months Recurring Times 12 (recur for 12 months then stop) David
no -- a new payment every 12 months I'm testing this with $1, but it will be more than that when I get the cancellation issue fixed and I can go live!
Hi - I have a 1shopping cart integration on my amember install - it is set up for recurring billing, but there is no cancel link on the list of paid memberships in the member page that you see if you log in as a paid member. Do anyone have any ideas? Also - and sorry if this is the wrong place for it but I can't see a Products stream on the forum - is there a way of getting the system to unsubscribe someone from a previous membership if they buy the next one up? EG let;s say i have two levels - silver and gold. can i set the system up so that if they buy gold it will cancel silver automatically? Many thanks in advance for your help! Regards Peter
