I see there are a few people who are having problems with members attempting to join but being set to "pending". In my case no payment is made through PayPal, and there is no entry in the error log.

This is happening to me on a regular basis and it is frustrating to be losing money because of it

How many people are having this problem?

    Has anyone successfully fixed it?

I saw it mentioned that the phpBB plugin may have been causing problems so I disabled it. Any other suggestions?

    Thanks for any help.

Are you actually getting paid thru paypal, but aMember is not processing it? (setting it to pending); or; do you see the account get set up, and the user selected PayPal but nothing finalized (also you do not have any funds in your paypal account from the transaction)?

What did Alex say it could be?

    Jennifer,

Do you have confirmation email set up?

I have the same problem. I think what is happening is the confirmation email is sent BEFORE they are sent on to Paypal.

So if they do not receive the email (re; their servers classify it as spam, which seems to happen a lot) then they do not finish the payment process and it remains 'pending'.

I too have this problem and am not sure what to do as I want to keep the confirmation email for double opt in 'spam' reasons.

    Any ideas anyone...

We get a fair amount of pending users. This is probably my biggest problem with aMember. We lose a number of potential new members this way.

Pending accounts should automatically get deleted after a period of time because there is no real benefit to keeping them in the database.

wadc, are you pendings as a result of the customer not actually completing payment? Do you use email confirmation as a few of the folks in this thread are?

    1. Try disabling email confirmation, measure success/failure
    2. Set Amember to email after a certain number of days reminding them to complete payment, measure success/failure

Thanks, Skippy. I'll give that a try and see what happens.

I think part of the problem may be due to Hotmail filtering out aMember emails.
