How to add Alternative template for signup page

I'm trying to choose an alternative template to on the signup forms editor page. I added a duplicate of the signup.phtml (alternate-signup.phtml) file here:
/amember/application/default/views/signup

But it doesn't show up on the drop menu... anyone know where it should be added?

What version of amember are you using? You may need to update.

The proper way is to actually make your own theme folder to drop these files in to

But i think the signup template still needs to be in /amember/application/default/views/signup

Or maybe I think that because I'm using wordpress's theme.
