want to make sure I am doing this correctly...have been using amember since early 2005 and very pleased with the product (minus the gay ass non ability to have statistics of my history)***but that's another story. Our website is for armwrestling videos and I currently have to product options monthly and six months package which has worked out pretty well minus the abuse of members coming and going a little too often for my liking...which brings me to my point of being here... My designer is working on a next generation version of our site where we are offering premium content and so I am now going to be offering an upgrade option for access to this content...but not quite sure how to go about it. I am looking on this forum but do not see a step by step how to on the subject. so I currently have two product options. monthly. six months the upgrade option will be a one time charge. will i create two additional products that will be titled premium monthly. premium six months? (for some background, since 2005 I have had over 2400 members but never more than 500 at any given time. I have a loyal long term following of base members but they are too spotty. Sign up for content in jan then leave feb march come back in may and repeat. so we are trying to find ways to make them more sticky with the premium content.) thanks for any advice, Gary Roberts www.myarmtv.com **the 3rd party stats that I am signed up with isn't cutting the mustard...very confusing
Gary, So as I understood members should pay only one time fee to access premium content? And this does not matter what product user have monthly or annual? Is just create new product in amember for premium content and make it to be available only for users who have other two products.
that would work... I see how that would work on the front end...but what if the membership cancels. I want the premium to cancel also... so as long as the maintained the regular membership...the premium would always be available minus the one time charge. ...but if they cancel they would have to re-do the one time premium charge. I have some members who are always loyal and maintain their active status. For these members I want to offer the premium content. I may even comp some of them.. it is the users who come and go... I want to take away their desire to not be loyal with the premium penalty if you will.
@gsr26 Interesting idea on how to create stickyness. Please post back if your experiment works! How does the control mechanism work- only the 1st signup gets the bonus products? Then if they cancel and resign up, theres no bonus item? Could this be done by creating 2 different products- a 1st time signup product that includes the bonus, and a resignup product which has no bonus, or a 3rd higher priced product with the bonus. Wondering if this would force people to signup under a new username etc... David
