how to set lifetime free membership?

Hi, Im new with amember and found difficult to set up a simple free subscription.

I set a test product to $0.00 and duration= lifetime subscription
however when I test it, it creates a user with period 01.31.2010 - 01.31.2010 and Expired status
Also tried a fixed expiration date like 2020-12-31 and didnt work either, it creates the user exactly as before
I use clickbank as the payment processor even is not necessary for this particular free membership

also, is there any way to avoid the "payment system" fileds at signup.php when only a free membership otpion displayed? I tried Assign paysystem to product checked so it can stop displaying it, but the layout ends completely misconfigured when this option enabled.

is there a manual to know how to set amember?

Try removing the 0.00 and leaving it blank.
