I have a SMF forum I am trying to protect using new_rewrite. However this option was not available so I used this hack https://www.amember.com/forum/showthread.php?t=8488 and got it to show up

    site structure:
    site: www.site.com
    forum www.site.com/forum

When I got into Folder Protect and set it up, and save, when I go to the URL (www.site.com/forum/ it says "page cannot be displayed" - however, if I delete the HTaccess file, it works again.

    Here is the HTAccess file

What is the problem with that?

What am I having such a hard time getting this setup?

Maybe new_rewrite is not available on your server.

Send in a tech support ticket to your hosting company asking them to enable "mod_rewrite".

    The problem is setup.
have a look: /forum/amember/ you have aMember installed inside folder that you want to protect. Of course this will generate loop, because login page will be protected as well.
    This was fixed in helpdesk.

    .htaccess

    Thanks - mine is fixed.

Support created an .htaccess file in my amember folder for me so it wouldn't loop.
