I've setup a folder at my site that contains all content for my members.

When I tried to protect this folder within the amember cpanel it wouldn't allow me to do so, and said that a file was blocking this. It seemed that the file was the .htaccess file within this members folder (this .htaccess file is tiny, and I have a much larger .htaccess file within public_html).

When I renamed the .htaccess file to 'a.htaccess' I was able to protect the members folder within amember cpanel. However, after doing so, I went to the main page for the members area folder and it was displaying my wordpress theme without asking for any password at all. No login box came up. However, all of my posts were gone (it just said '0 posts'.

When I tried to access wp-admin for the folder the page wouldn't come up. I could fix this problem by undoing what I'd done, and all of my posts came back and wp-admin worked fine. However, I really need to protect this area so that I can launch my members area.

I've been dealing with support for days now and seem to get a different person each time. Finally I was told 'we can't help you without your FTP details'. However, this is the site that I currently live off of, and I know that it's common sense not to go giving your FTP details out to anyone, even if you think you trust them. Therefore I'm really not comfortable giving out my password to an unknown support person.

I've heard great things about Amember, and I'm so keen to use the system. However, this problem is preventing a very very important launch date for me, and I really need it fixing asap.

    Please can someone help?

Oh, I forgot to mention. I'd probably be happy giving out my details to Alex if there was some safety net. I'll ensure that I get everything backed up by my host before hand. I'd just feel happier with Alex dealing with this himself rather than another support person.

I don't mean to sound mistrusting, but I've had my fingers stung in the past, and can't risk something happening to my site...

Thanks for the response Alexander. I managed to fix the problem a few days ago with a friend. I appreciate you getting back to me though.
