As an example of what I am asking, go to: http://www.sat-100.com/HuFiles.html and click on any one of the .bin files list in the center column. Note the .htaccess username/password prompt. Personally, I think these prompt are ugly and unprofessional. Is there a way in aMember to specify not to have these prompts? What I would want is for the only username/password prompts to be only entered via a HTML form, and all attempts to access files for which I user doesn't have access will result in a 'bad permissions' page. Is this possible? Thanks
Yes, there is a way, you can use mod_rewrite+php_include protection, as it is described in the manual: http://cgi-central.net/amemberdocs/
Thanks for the reply Alex. I read the mod_rewite/php_include info, and I see now that what I want is doable. I assume that this method will be as secure as the default security scheme(?). Cheers
Yes, it is even more secure than htpasswd. However, it may not work on some hostings. If your hosting is CPanel-based, 99% that it will work without any problems.
awesome! thanks alex; I will be purchasing the pro version very soon. When I purchase the Pro verion of aMember, is my only support this forum, or is there an email address I will get to use for contact? Thanks
All registered customers can email us : support@cgi-central.net and we guarantee reply within 24 hours (usually a lot faster).
