I just read at a forum that PayPal is cancelling monthly subscribers WITHOUT their permission. This sucks in two ways: 1) The obvious -- no money. 2) How do we fix the problem? I offer the first 30 days free, then $17 a month. Do we just ask the ex-member to register again, or can the user cancel the cancel with PayPal? Any thoughts?
Do you know WHY Paypal is making the cancellations? It would be interesting to find out moire information For a long time Paypal has had a policy of cancelling recurring subscriptions where the funding source (bank account and/or credit card) consistently fails to cover the transaction causing the paypal account to go into "the red". If this is the case you are referring too, you as the merchant would not necessarily know that your customer was having this problem and it wouldnt matter to your business anyway, as the customer doesnt have money to pay with. So people simply jump up and down blaming Paypal instead. One thing Ive learned from business over MANY years is a customers inability to pay his account is EXTREMELY often blamed on some other entity rather than saying the truth, that they just are unable to pay. However if there is another reason why this is happening could you please post a link so we can check this out.
It will sometimes cancel if the user changes payment sources, eg, changes credit cards or switches from bank payment to credit card. David
There's a pretty big discussion about this here: http://www.warriorforum.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=247148 I've had 3 cancels in the last 2 days -- VERY unusual.
Site is 1 month old now, the 22nd should bring me new money, I didn't receive any second payment so far, I only receive mails for either cancellations or Failed Payments. If it continues like this, my site is basically screwed
