Hello, Just starting out and trying to set up Incremental Content Memberships which link to Wordpress pages. I am editing a product and under the Incremental Content Memberships section wher it asks for a Folder Path. What should this be for Wordpress because all the pages are domain.com/pagename? Asked differently, does aMember require Incremental Content to be actual HTML pages vs being a page in Wordpress? Thanks.
You can't protect wordpress virtual folders with amember protection. These directories dont really exist, so if you create and protect them- it wont work. You can use incremental content integration with wordpress though, either using the plugin by amemberincremental.com or my method of a hacked version of hidepost. David
How does amemberincremental.com's plugin/bridge work again? Can someone explain that in plain English, because the website itself doesn't give any specifics... Can you publish pages/posts within Wordpress and have them set up as Incremental content within aMember?
amemberincremental: You create the incremental links in amember and give the name of the link a category name in wordpress. When the bridge is active, and content in that category in wordpress is protected. You need to create a new category for each week/month of content set up in amember. --- My hack is a little different- you create the links in amember and use a label like Week_01 for the name of the link. You use that in my hacked version of hidepost to protect the individual article, which will then work in any category, post or page. Two ways to skin this cat. BTW- my members that i recommended you to are very happy with your work. David
Hi miso, With The Bridge, you can manage Wordpress + Incremental Content with categories. Creating categories is part and parcel of writing new Wordpress posts, and also makes it easy to change and update. In terms of amount of time spent, the entire process is the same whether for The Bridge, Hidepost or loose articles/html/php on aMember + Incremental Content's side - adding directories, creating link names, no. of days, grouping, etc. And on WP end, the usage is simply creating categories and assigning posts/content to the categories that are protected, i.e. virtual directories are protected. You need to "assign" the content (for virtual directories), rather than "upload" it to the directory (for actual directories on servers). ==== Is this solution is for you? ==== The Bridge is best meant for clients who want to organize their content in categories (virtual directories), and they can control access permissions to some or all of the categories. And in future, when you want to update or change permissions, it can be easily achieved by changing the access permissions to the categories. If you are looking to organize your content with categories and keep it easy to update in case of future changes, then The Bridge is the solution. Hope that helps. Cheers, Lee
Ok, now I am a bit confused, and I'll probably need to test this bridge out myself before I can formulate a clear picture of how it works... because I thought that you cannot add a non-directory to the Incremental Plugin content (as it throws an error if you select anything else but a directory)... unless you hacked the Incremental Plugin a bit to get around that. I'll shoot you an email to see if I can get a hands on demo of some sort... And thanks David... I actually recommended a few people over to you as well, and hopefully they're finding the advice valuable so far.
The Bridge and the Hack both look like good options to get wordpress and amember inegrated for the incremental content. The Bridge looks straightforward to install etc but I cant get much more info on the hidepost hack? David, do I need to be a premium member to get access to it? Thanks
Does this Incremental Content Bridge thing...lol...work with WPMU? And from what I'm understanding, we can protect the categories and force users to subscribe via amember, correct? Thanks!
Hi dpalmer, It has not been tested with WPMU, please drop me an email codeispoetry [at] amemberincremental.com to discuss on this. Cheers, Lee
