    hi,

i'm setting up a membership site based on joomla 1.5 and phpbb3. i am currently running a bridge (jfusion) between joomla 1.5 and phpbb3 to have single login. i am considering using amember to manage my user subscriptions.

these are the various levels of users:

    1. guest
    - can view and browse the site and forum without registering, but no pm functions, and cannot post on the forum

    2. registered
    - registered users can view and browse the site and forum, use all the functions and can post. registration can be through the default joomla user registration with the default fields

    3. members
    - paid access. members can view and browse the site and forum, use all the functions and can post, and in addition, have access to some restricted content. for members, we need to have a customized registration form with additional fields

users can choose to become registered first without subscribing to membership, and then choose to become a member later.

i have several questions before i can decide if amember can do what i want.

    1. will amember be able to integrate with both joomla 1.5 and phpbb3 in terms of registration, authorization, authentication and assigning the correct user groups?

    2. is the subscription period customizable? our subscription period runs from 1 june to 31 may each year, regardless of when the user subscribes

    3. can amember have different user registration forms for different user levels? as stated above, for normal registration, we only need a simple registration form with default fields. but for members, we need to capture much more data

    4. i know there is a trial for amember. but is it possible to also trial the joomla 1.5 and phpbb3 plugins?

    thanks!

yes, i havent done it with the bridge, i use amember plugins for both.

Fixed subscription start date is an option (ive never used)

You can create custom signup forms for each product, but if you require address etc.. for one it will be required for all. You can use the optional setting.

i believe the trial comes with all plugins- but if they are up to date I dont know.

I am looking at doing something similar and have about 100 members that need transferring to the paid access with the majority getting the first 45 days free and others getting 6 months. I also need to be able to grant other users this level for free when there is more than one person from the same company.
I have a second group of 5-6 that has a similar issue.
I also have about 500 unpaid members that I would like to be able upgrade as and when they would like.
I would also like to have custom forms that need to be filled in when paid membership is applied for.
All logins are to be done from one place i.e. the forum end and then user has access to Joomla and Forum features. I have used Noix ACL to generate the different groups in Joomla. I currently use JFusion but hope that this can be dropped when aMember is working properly.

What is the best way of implementing this?

    Mike
