Hi, I'm looking for a solution for my client and have stumbled upon this. The site will sell downloadable podcasts and pdf's to customers in the UK. aMember looks pretty promising but I have a few questions: 1. I see that Joomla integration is possible. Is this script compatible with Joomla 1.5? 2. Is the Joomla integration by way of installing a component via the Joomla admin or is it more complicated than that? 3. The site needs to be able to take payments on the site via PayPal or Protx (ie complete integration and not have the user taken to the payment gateway's site). Is this possible? The site is UK based. 4. Can 'non-subscription' items be sold? ie one off downloads etc. Also physical products. Can the 2 be combined in a single order? 5. If a user is subscribed to a particular download, how do they get it? I need to be able to set it to automatically be sent to the user each month, week, whatever. Is this possible? 6. Is it possible to set up a special membership area that has access to extra products that non members can't access? I think that's it. Hopefully someone can give me an idea. Many thanks, Ollie
I've done integrations up to 1.5.3 Components in Joomla and an aMember plugin Yeah, can be done, haven't used protx though. Yes, you can do via amember if theres only a few products, if lots you may want to look at virtuemart. You can set amember to send out the download by email after X days. Yes. I'm not sure how you will get it to work with podcasts. David
I think that number 3 needs a correction. In case of paying through PayPal, the payment will have to be done on the paypal.com page so the user will be taken "to the payment gateway's site". I am not sure about Protx, but unless it is a full merchant account, the user will still have to finish the payment on the payment gateway's site. Tomas
Hi Thanks for the replies, So it looks like aMember pretty much meets my needs except for a the payment thing being a bit hazy. I'm hoping to use PayPal Payments Pro as opposed to PayPal Standard. So really my question is "is Payments Pro supported so as to keep the customer on the site and not go to PayPal?" If someone can clarify this I'd appreciate it. Please note this is a UK site (I think UK and US PPPro are different). Cheers ps I couldn't see a Joomla component to purchase anywhere. Do I need to buy the standard script only or is there something else I need to purchase?
There is a separate Joomla plugin, you will be able to order it after you order the aMember script and it costs $40 or $60, I am not sure but I think it was $40 when I got mine. Tomas
