Hi I was wondering if amember can do this. Thanks to David to help me understand a section of the trial period stuff, it's lead me to another question - sorry, I got a feeling I will have more of these since the online documentation is incomplete / outdated since Sept 2006. Any way. Say I set up a Trial Period for 7 days at $1.00, and have recurring billing price set and for how long for in months. My intention was to have them access say, 12 videos out of the 32 in the first module during the first 7 days, then after the 7 days, they get billed for the FULL amount, which will allow them to view ALL of the videos in module 1. Like I understand what this is: "Product URL", ie, could be domain.com/members/products/member-trial/index.php But these ones: "Additional URLs", what would that be, the individual urls to video pages, like domain.com/members/products/member-trial/vid1.php domain.com/members/products/member-trial/vid2.php domain.com/members/products/member-trial/vid3.php domain.com/members/products/member-trial/vid4.php etc, etc? And if so, how would the script know to let it access all the other links to the 32 videos in module 1 once their 7 days trial ends and after they pay the full months subscription. Is there a way to make it do this? Cheers Loz EDIT: I just noticed this "Require another subscription to order this product" So If I enter a product group that requires full payment for each month, I can switch the user to pay for this, and it will be paid automatically, and if so, I can leave "price" and "trial price" to $1.00, and leave the recurring filed empty?
Hey Loz, You can do it the way you say ("require another subscription to order...") and have 2 products, alternatively, you can use Incremental Plugin to control the access to the other links. Regarding your question on Additional URLs, it basically is a list of URLs in addition to the Product URL. So if your member orders the product, he will see the Product URL + Additional URLs in their members' area. Does that make sense to you? Lee
Thanks Lee, Kinda makes sense - NOT. I wish there were some video tutorials to go from, Alex is being difficult / playing dumb, asking him the same question 4 times and he said he didn't understand! I'm getting really PO'd here.
I say that it kinda makes sense, NOT, as in, no, it dont, none of this stuff does. It's not your fault, it's Alex's. I'm just bloody frustrated. How can someone have a online manual and not update it for 3 years or even bother to do video examples of how to do full customization is beyond me, that's just plain lazy. There's not even anyone talking about it on google video, youtube, or any other social network, or site on how to do customization. That's how bloody difficult this is for the average joe!
Trouble is all these 'extras' cost money which have to be costed into the equasion somewhere. There is A LOT of information out there how to do customisation and there are thousands of sites out there using aMember to control their membership site. Is it Alex that is 'plain lazy' in not providing vidios or your self for not looking for the information? Try membershipacadamy.com loads of videos there showing how to do things with aMember. Alex has provided an excellent script that works well and which can be customised in more ways than you can imagine but that is not Alex's work that is yours when it comes to your website - afterall you will benifit when the money comes rolling in!! Much help is available here but it probably will not come flooding in if you want to make comments such as lazy. Alex will go beyond supplying standard support and make suggestions regarding changes to aMember. he has for me. If that is being lazy then maybe you are right.
