Members cannot get into members area.

I have a Big Challenge
After signing up members correctly -

Members cannot get into members area. They get the e-mail.
They can get to the Your Membership screen or to the access page and a log-in comes up. When they try to log in they get a 401 authorization Required Screen.
User and Pass are correct.
Access Logs show they are accesing BUT no access.

I cannot figure this out. I can get in...
What is happening?

Sounds like a protection issue.
Is your "protect directory" set up properly?

Thanks for taking the time to post to me.
The protection folders seem to be set up correct.
Using htpasswd
The install team set up the folders.
I can access into folders from my computer with non admin login.
I get full access.

Do you know of something specific that I should check?

By members area do you mean member.php?
If its member.php- you should send a help desk ticket.
