Greetings, I hoping someone can help me better understand the price group and renewals groups. I'm trying to set up the 2013 memberships for my group and we going from a calendar year to a 365 day membership. so i trying to set up the join page to show only the 2013 membership options while allowing those with 2012 memberships to renewal at anytime and have there 2013 membership start on 1 jan but i can only get it one way or the other and not both options. i sure there something i know doing correctly with the price group and renewals but the manual isn't helping. any pointers would help a lot thanks, JC
Can you explain why you are changing 1 year into 365 days? All this for 1 day every 4 years!! Or have I missed the point somewhere?
I did a poor job of explaining I guess so i'll try again currently my clubs membership expires on 31 December. What I want is to set up a new product being a 2013 membership and being valid for a year from the date of purcjase . Creating this product is not the issued. It just how to offer it to members now with current memberships and making sure the new purchase starts on 1 Jan and doesn't short current members that have paid for the year
So set existing product to a renewal group, for instance 'members'. Create new product for 2013 memberships and set its renewal group to the same as existing. Set start date as 'Fixed Date' (January 1st.) or ' Last expiration date in the renewal group' in which case it will automatically start when the previous product expires. If your memberships are all from January 1st, for 1 year, then why get involved in renewal groups? Renewal Groups work well if a members subscription starts on the day they paid and then lasts for 1 full year. If the member then renews after say 11 months that subscription will not then start until previous one ends if ' Last expiration date in the renewal group' is set together with 'Payment date'.
