I am considering buying this product in order to protect my Joomla site. Can anyone tell me which method of protection the Joomla plugin employs? I have an apache server. I would prefer to use the new_rewrite method. I assume that with new_rewrite you can protect entire directories?
Joomla I have read how other users are using a module from amember that allows a user to log in directly on the joomla page. Essentially, you swap in the aMember login box. If I do this, which does that bind me to a certain type of method of protection? What method of protection are most people using for Joomla integration? I assume some type of directory protection? But, if that is the case, don't you get one of those drop down log in boxes (like an htaccess login?)
I am using this on my E107 site and you disable the Joomla registration system and Amember takes over and populates the Joomla tables and Amamber tables with user registration information. So Joomla thinks people are registering through its own registration system and all features that depend on users being registered etc.. still works the same
Thanks. I eventually plan to add a Joomla forum and other features. I assume that if you protect the entire Joomla directory, that everything in the Joomla "world" is protected?
yes thats correct but if you protect say www.yoursite.com then no one will see anything but the login screen if they access your site. we are protecting www.oursite.com/content/ so that when you go to www.oursite.com you can still see what ever is in the root
I plan to do something similar. But I would like the Joomla homepage to be the login page. So, if you do that- how does the rest of the Joomla content get protected? Is it tied to the way in which you publish your content (apply permissions to the content?) If so, how could you protect a forum?
all the content that is posted in the directory hierarchy after www.yoursite.com/ will be protected. With E107 my content goes into www.mysite.com/e107_plugins/content so i just protect www.mysite.com/e107_plugins/content/ now www.mysite.com/e107_plugins/content/*.* will be protected also but www.mysite.com/e107_plugins/ will not - www.mysite.com/e107_plugins/forums/ can be protected if you add that to a protected package
