mod_rewrite not an option?

I'm trying to protect my folders . . so that the amember login grants my members access to /members/ folder. . but the only options available are .htprotect and the php option. . rewrite is not an available option it will not let me check the radio button. .

I've been reading and it says something about apache or enabling rewrite. . I have NO idea how to do this. Do I do this from the cpanel/admin section of 1and1 or in the ftp?

Send an email to your host- ask them to enable mod_rewrite.

Yes, but in the trial version those files are encrypted. . so upgrading to the paid version made them editable. .

All you have to do is edit out that function, just put "//" before that line of code. It works perfect, thank you
