    Hiya,

I'm using Amember Pro with the e107 plugin (works really well - thanks Alex!)

Thinking about using Joomla for my site instead. I know that there is a Joomla plugin for Amember so no problems there, but any advice on the smoothest way to transfer? I really don't want to ask all my members to cancel and resubscribe, so could I set them up manually in the Joomla database and then Amember would carry on managing their subscriptions are usual...?

    Thanks!

    Hallo Loiusa!

    Did not understand...

You are using amember scripts, do`nt you?

So aMember database will remain as your master database, should`nt it?

Using amember you are using an entirely different architecture. Here you can plugin and plugout other CMS, scripts, databases whern ever you want _SO_LONG_AS_ your amember database remains, survives and works as MASTER or primary database.

You can use or plugin e107, which is what you have done it. Thereafter you can join or plugin at a later date Joomla, Xoops, Drupal CMS with your same amember database at any time you want, since amember is not programmed with timings when to plugin. This could be also after months and years.

So just install your Joomla CMS, customise it correctly the templates, etc and them install the plugin for joomla, which is working very correct on my installation.

Then simply go to Add Mass subscription from the products links, specify the NEW subscription that you may have created, click on the integration for Joomla and then take a coffee until it is finished. Mind you, it takes a very long time to mass subscribe all the users, like one hour for a few thousand users to add them.

So I did not really understand why you are asking "I wanna move"? There is no MOVE! There is only an ADDITION!!!

Hey thanks Draj - that's great information! :)

So my amember has one product called 'membership' which allows them to login to my e107 site. When a new person subscribes, they are added to amember and e107 databases, so they can login to e107 in future without always having to go through amember login. When their subscription expires or they cancel, Amember updates the e107 members database so they can no longer login.

Let's say I start to use Joomla instead of e107. I set up my Joomla site, add the Joomla plugin to amember and use the 'Add Mass Subscription' option to create members in the Joomla database. Would I need to create a new product in amember to do this (eg. 'Joomla membership') or could I use existing product to keep things simple?

    I think I nearly understand! :p

    Hi!

Oh, I should have mentioned it earlier! Sorry for the confusion. Its better to clarify before a volume of nightmares...

Lets say you have e107 for your existing website and thereafter add Joomla plugin as a new plugin to your Website. Here when you add a NEW PLUGIN, it will appear in the listing of subscriptions UNDER ALL PRODUCTS/SUBSCRIPTIONS.

There are two possibilities AFTER YOU ADD A NEW PLUGIN:

Method Rebuild: Keeping the same subscription

CP > Manage Products > select the integration!

Go to the products and select from the dropdown what you want the new plugin joomla to do with this subscription, i.e. integrate it or not and if integrate then in which user group the plugin needs to add the subscription.

Lets say you choose it to be Registered Users for Joomla integration.

So thereafter aMember knows that the subscription "Membership" has double integration, one for e107 and also for the new plugin joomla.

In this method, you need to rebuild the database. Then aMember will see that for this subscription "Membership", there are users in e07 BUT NOT in Joomla. So it will add all those subscribed and active users to joomla during the rebuild.

For the rebuild, use Admin > CP > Rebuild

Mass Subscribe: Possibility of adding a new subscription

You can create a new subscription with a new name and new parameters. Here you can define if the members needs to be integrated only with joomla.

    Please be careful:

If you have double subscription and delete one, then the records will also be deleted.

You can also add Drupal or other CMS plugins and do the same described above ANY TIME.

May be Alex needs to document those things a bit better....
