    Alex,

Is there anything special I need to do to access one database from multiple domains. Users will only be on one domain and do not need access to other domains. Basically does subsequent installations affect the original installation?

Standart installation will not work this way. Why do you need it?
I'm ready to help and make free customization.

Basically I won't be using to control access to sites only to control membership to email accounts. People will be signing up for email addressses on otherwise they will have access to the entire site.

Will I need to purchase a pro license for every site?

    Alex,

I realize this is an old thread, but it is the exact same question I have. My situation replicates his exactly. I use amember for email sign up, and although I only use for one domain right now, I plan to add domains VERY soon. How can I do this?

Unfortunately, there are no ways to have lot of domains in aMember license. May be it is possible single aMember installation in single domain for all your domains?

    Same Sort of Problem

We've got a similiar sort of probelm. Our organisation has three main sections (Exhibitions, Workshops and Publications). Each section has it's own domain name with three established sites under the one banner. Moving them all to one domain would be a huge job (10 years of archives etc) and not really a viable option. The problem is we only want one membership database to work across all three domains. Not seperate databases for each site.

I should probably also mention, the three domains are all hosted on the same server (shared hosting with Dreamhost) and under the same Account username.

Also just wonderring, if no other options available, would it be possible to buy three licenses, one for each domain and get them to use a shared database?

    Riki,
you may have any number of sites protected with htpasswd (if all are on the same server), but aMember should work from one file location only.

However, if you have root access to the server, this problem can be resolved. Contact us via helpdesk to discuss details.

    Thanks Alex

I thought that might be the case becuase I previously installed a custom built PHP Counter/Web Log System which works across all domains when I link to the required PHP includes as the root user. Whereas they wouldn't work if I use a HTTP address. I'll run some tests this week and get back to helpdesk if I get stuck. Many thanks.

    Alex,

I have a pretty similar problem

I have 2 company sites , running on the same server

I will collect memberships and payments from both domains,
but of course they will interface into the same paypal interface and shall get into the same amember installation.

Those two could share one amember installation directory,
but I'd need different html templates

    does that work?

David, if we are talking just about signup page, it is of course possible and easy.
    What about other pages? login.php ? member.php?

    @alex, @david

I do have a similar requirement...

at least the signup page should be hosted ON the other domain - users would else get confused too easy...

in fact hosting the login/member page there too shouldn't be too much of a problem, as long as the sites are on the same physical server and care share directories

    what do you think alex?
