I purchased amember to work with verotel and vbulletin. I spoke fairly extensively with support before making my purchase of $179. It has been a little over 27 hours since I made my purchase, and despite the 24 hour installation claim, I am still not able to use amember. I was online at 4 AM this morning to make sure I was here to assist in any way possible, and as a result I am the proud owner of a trouble ticket with 31 messages in it. I was under the impression that I would have a completely functional setup when the installation was done. I learned this morning: That I will have to import all of my users (about 13000) from my vbulletin database and then email all of them with their new passwords. The import system is confusing to say the least, and I have not found any documentation on how to do this. Apparently users can no longer register with my original vbulletin registration page. This is less than satisfactory, but I can deal with it. However, I found a few bugs with it. First, if a user enters a username that verotel does not allow, they are forwarded to the verotel sign up page - and rejected for bad characters. Then they must go back to the sign up page. Although they did not successfully register, the email address is already in the system and can no longer be used! I submitted this problem to the help desk, and they disabled at least one of the illegal characters (_). This may or may not solve the problem, as there may be more illegal characters that will cause the same problem - I'm not sure. I have 521 users that already have a "_" in their username. Since this will not work with Verotel, what am I to do with these members? Some of them have over 500 posts on my site! I can't simply delete them, and it is unreasonable to expect me to manually change the usernames and then email them all of the change. Then, I signed up with a username that did work with my three systems: verotel, amember, and vbulletin, "bobhamilton". I tested the free account and it worked fine, so I tried to upgrade, via amember and paying through verotel. The amember admin area shows the attempt, I recieved confirmation on both ends (merchant and customer) from verotel that the transaction was successful, but amember did not do the thing I purchased it to do - change the membergroup in vbulletin. I submitted the problem to the helpdesk. I also reported the message I recieved from verotel: It is also a problem that there is no confirmation of a valid email address. Users can enter a fake email, or a mistake, and sign up, and there is no confirmation system. Additionally, there seems to be no registration agreement with the amember registration form. I want to ensure that my users are at least 18 and agree to some terms and conditions! Now - these problems are all fixable, I am sure, but I have been waiting for a response for 4 hours now. Yes, amember is installed, and yes, it is to a point integrated with my vbulletin forum, but since it is not working yet - I don't think I should be sitting here in limbo. I sincerely hope to report back soon with all of these issues resolved, because otherwise amember just will not work for me!
aMember by default allows the following characters for username: 0-9 (digits) a-zA-Z (letters), _(underscore), " "(space). Make sure space is also removed (PM me your ticket reference, and I will check it). Sorry, but it would be strange to expect such ability already-made from any script (it is only an idiotic idea of Verotel to reject username with _, other payment processor does not have such a "feature"). Let us know and it will be done with a litte and free custom-made script. Is payment marked as "paid" in aMember? I will try to find your ticket to see it. Enable email verification at aMember CP->Setup->E-Mail Enable this in your aMember product settings (aMember CP -> Manage Products), and edit template amember/templates/license.html Let me explain - we promise our part of job - initial installation and configuration will be done within 24 hours after installation request, and we keep this promise. We don't promise you are ready to go after 24 hours! We just unable to know all specific of your website, and even if we ask, nobody can remember and explain everything at once. Everything must be tested and tweaked, and we are ready to be with your and help with aMember configuration as long as necessary.
Thank you for your response, that helps a lot. I was more concerned with the fact that I had a steady conversation going with the support team (31 messages!) with little to no delay between responses... and then they just stopped, with unresolved issues. I feel like we were in the middle of a job, and they just walked off for 6 hours. To answer your questions: Ticket Reference 5948-TMBX-9176 I agree Verotel shouldn't reject _ and such, but they do, and I thought your script would already have problems like that taken care of. I will follow your advice on how to remedy the situation. In my aMember CP it says the user is NOT paid. It seems that I need to tell them to adjust something in the Verotel script... for future users, it is: Please ask Verotel staff to set Remote User Management script URL to http://yoursite.com/amember/plugins/payment/verotel/ipn.php and secret code for IPN script to (verotel secret code) Thank you for responding, like I said - it was the sudden halt of communication that had me worried.
Hey Alex, any idea what's going on with my install? I'm starting to feel that the price I paid is very unfair, I was under the impression that I was purchasing working scripts. It shouldn't take over 4 days to install a working script. So far the communication, work, and instructions have been very unclear and as yet I still do not have a working product.
wolfyman, we will issue full refund for your purchase after your confirmation. There are problems with MySQL on your server - even in phpMyAdmin it takes minutes to execute simple queries, and complex queries don't execute at all. It is a complex problem, and in another case we would try to resolve it, but in this particular case, I feel like we delaying you, and refund would be the best choice. BTW, we have enabled aMember<->vBulletin integration right here (and it works well) in this forum. It works from scratch for all our clients, it is sad that there are problems with your server, and we have no time to resolve it.
Where did my previous post go? Did you delete my post? I want the thing working, I have invested much more than just money into this project. If I have to accept a refund, it is going to set me back a good two weeks. My database is over a gig, so of course you can't do much with it in phpmyadmin. Please don't blame the problem on my server though, without giving details. I have no problem running mysql queries. What needs to be done?
Wolfyman, I don't delete posts in this forum at all. If I would, this entire topic would be deleted Alexander tomorrow will give you examples of queries that don't execute at all.
If you are not deleteing my posts, then someone else is. So far two of my posts have dissapeared. As I said in my previous posts that mystereiously dissapeared - I will now be over two weeks behind schedule if this does not work out, and I don't think I should have to say how frustrating it is that you are going to make me wait yet another 24 hours for any kind of communication. Fine, please issue the refund. I suppose I should cut my losses while I have lost relatively little, since it appears you are unwilling to work with me.
the migration from vbulletin to amember+verotel+vbulletin has been really rocky, but it seems like we are making headway. Again, I hope to report back here soon and say that everything has been resolved and my product is working perfectly. I'm not sure if you would rather I post a new thread for this or not, but how do I remove this part on /amember/signup.php?
You need to link to signup page as http://www.yoursite.com/amember/signup.php?hide_paysys=verotel or open amember/signup.php (make a backup first), and change first line <?php to <?php $_GET['hide_paysys'] = 'verotel';
Alex, something is buggy with the ticket system support center. It keeps telling me to confirm my email address, and won't let me login to do so. I have a couple questions. 1. Did you install the gift subscription module yet? If so, how do I use it? 2. I think I asked for the script to change the users additional usergroup when they purchase an upgrade, rather than the primary usergroup. One reason: I have a "Top Posters" page on my forum http://forums.beerandshots.com/topposters.php and for some reason it is not counting users who are in the primary usergroup upgraded by amember. Is it possible that the amember mysql database is causing this? If I add the users upgrade as an additional usergroup, they are not affected this way. Thanks for your help, we're making headway... slowly but surely
Wolfyman, your support helpdesk account fixed, lets continue in the helpdesk. Sorry for this issue, there was a problem with migration. Regarding the problems, I'm not aware of, but I will let know Alexander to contact you. Yes, it is possible that it effect of aMember Pro integration, we will check this.
That's a better way of an approach.Well an arrow can be sent ahead by dragging it back.It implies that you are going to launch a new height. LOL
