Authorize.net just announced the ability to upgrade service to automated recurring payments and use of the AIM api to automatically trigger the payments.

Is there an amember plugin for this new functionality?

Anyone using Auth.net AIM has a Merchant Account and the ability to process real CCs directly through their site. aMember can handle the recurring payments through AIM by processing these as individual billings at whatever interval is setup in aMem.

Why would using this new system be preferable to having aMem handle these payments? It seems aMem is more flexible and gives you (the seller) more controll over your billing periods, cancelations, returns, etc.

Because it's a security risk to have the CC numbers stored in a MySQL database on a shared server, and this new service appears to make it possible to have Auth.net keep the credit card numbers in their system and run the automated recurring billing, much the same way that PayPal does.

And from what I understand, the AIM integration would make the flexibility of AMember work seamlessly with Auth.net

oldcity, you are correct - it is better to use this system. AIM have this system running long ago, but it did not provide any integration abilities. If something has changed, we would be happy to implement it. Could you e-mail docs to support@cgi-central.net ?

    Authorize.net API

    Alex,

I dont know if this was sent to you or not already so I just emailed the API docs to you.

Any kind of timeline to get this implemented and costs?

Unfortunately, nothing has changed. It is for manual management of subscriptions. Yes, Auth.Net will rebill customers automatically, but aMember will never know status of subscription - there is no such ability.
