I wanted to see if anyone has come accross this. Starting around April 23rd any orders taken via paypal (Our 3 Day Free Trial) would not show up in our paypal account and or the customers account? They would show up as active in Amember, but the only way to find them in paypal is to do search with the transaction number. Then when you find the account it shows (Status ...) And there is no cancel button for either us or the customer. Normally it would say (Status active). After the 3 days are up it never Bills the customer and they still have access. We have been on the phone with Paypal quite a few times and they say "Its a known Problem" and are working on it, but I dont know if I believe that. I just wanted to see if anyone has ever come accross this or even facing it now. Please help Rick
SAME PROBLEM!!! Thank god, it's happening to someone else (well, actually I'm sorry, but I am just happy I didn't screw something up). I installed Authorize.net AIM around the same time, and thought that was causing the conflict, but apparently not. It started 4/22/08 for me, and still continues to today. Please let me know if you find a fix for this!
As an update, I called PayPal too... You are sort of limited to talking with Customer Support Reps instead of Tech Support people. The CSR said that PayPal is currently updating there payment system, and that sometimes causes certain conflicts. She said I have been added to the list of people that were affected by the update. I asked what does being on the list mean? She told me that I'll be notified when the issue is resolved. Honestly I don't think she even understood what I was talking about, and I feel like this list is more of a "post-it note" attached to her monitor of people she should avoid answering the phone from. I'm not feeling very confident about the situation right now. I am looking to maybe discontinue PayPal, and use Authorize.net primarily. I'm not sure how this would affect my current customers. If you know what this will do to my current customers, I've started a different post asking the question, and I'd appreciate your answer. https://www.amember.com/forum/showthread.php?t=7692
I received my payments today! I had 7 people sign-up for my free trial (during the PayPal screw-up period) before I was able to pull that subscription type off of my website. Those 7 customers were finally billed today. It appears that PayPal has also started the subscription date correctly. So they were billed today, but the subscription shows as starting back when they first subscribed and gained access to the website (which is correct). I am still not sure if the whole problem is fixed with the free trials for future subscriptions. In the meantime I've built a free sample section, so I am not going to even worry about the trials anymore.
