I hope you can help me. I've installed aMember, and added a directory within the amember directory to protect. I added all the users, and now I want to protect a folder. When I choose the folder and protection plugin new_rewrite, I get this:

File exists and contains non-aMember code unmodifiable by aMember. If you don't need this file, delete it and aMember will automatically create a new aMember compatible .htaccess file to replace it.

I don't know what to do... .htpasswd and .htgroup are chmod'ed 666, the the data/new_rewrite subfolder 777. And I also tried deleting it, to no avail.

    Help?

Fixed. It was an .htaccess problem within a subfolder.
