Hi, I am having a problem creating a new specific named user, aMember comes back saying that the user already exists. I was initially running the trial version for a short while which had this user configured. After upgrading to the full product I ended up doing a full reinstallation - the amember trial directory and database were completely trashed. However now when I try to create the user again it says that username already exists. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Simon
@Simon: Have you checked in your aMember Admin Control panel to see if the user is indeed in the user list? Out of curiosity, what is the username you are trying? Is there any special characters that may be throwing off the unique checker?
Also- have you integrated it with any 3rd party systems that have databases like wordpress? It may be seeing the user still in there. David
I have this issue occasionally. No matter what username you try, it says it is taken. The only way I can get around it is to close the browser and start a new browser session. I do not know how to recreate the problem, otherwise I would have submitted a ticket. But it does still happen every once in a while.
Does it happen on submitting the form, or is it a javascipt bug when it checks for the member. Are you using any plugins? some plugins have a user check in them that may not be working properly. David
It is a javascript bug when checking for the member. It pops up right after the would-be subscriber types in a proposed username. It just happened to me again. Here is the exact message: Username qwerty has been taken by another user. Please select a different log-in name If that is your account, please go to your membership page to login into your subscription.
Just got my support ticket answered. The error is caused by using either a username OR email address that is already somewhere in the system (amember or plugins) It is the email address that caused my issue. Changing it fixed the username error message. A bit confusing, but it makes sense now.
