My site has a lot of customization of aMember so I don't really want to upgrade from 3.0.7 to 3.0.9 but I am very eager to consider the new version. Any hint when shall we expect it?

Yes, I would like to know some new information on this too, it has been around a year since the last major release? previously new releases were around every 4/5 months.

I have been waiting for a new release before I upgrade my site too. I hope this does not mean aMember is fading away and not be supported anymore as it is a great piece of software with superlative support.

    2008 version of aMember?

In 2007, there was talk of a new version to be released "possibly" in early 2008. From the looks of this post, not much happened with earlier estimates.

I would simply like to know whether or not work is being done on a new version...and if beta testers are required, I'm certainly willing and able to participate as a tester.

Been using aMember for several years now and know it well, however, it is becoming outdated and it should really take advantage of new programming techniques (AJAX, etc). DB operations need improvement too!

Pardon me, as a non-web programmer (I studied COBOL, Fortran, etc), would you give me several examples of new programming techniques such as Ajax, etc may be benefit to all of us? How will it help me as a non-programmer take advantage to use more out of aMember?

And what do you mean DB operations need improvement?

    thanks for your patience.

Yes I tend to agree with that, some new features and use of new technology would be good. Maybe you should contact support and send in a ticket with your suggestions. Also, I contacted Alex via a support ticket recently and had a response about the next version of aMember, quote:

"Hi, We are working on major release now where all code will be rewrited. That's one it take so long."

Make from that what you will. Could be a few weeks or another few months. But I know it will be surely worth the wait.

    Reporting Needs Enchancement

I have to agree here - not much communication on what is going on. We have been looking at alternatives but holding out to see if a major upgrade materializes. The software would really benefit from enhancements to reporting, AJAX support, cleaner interface... etc. I encourage others to write Alex about if and when this is going to happen. CGI has created great software with even greater potential.

Sorry but why do you need Ajax?
The signup form is totally customizable.

Patiently waiting here too (trying). Haven't purchased yet, but this is high on the radar.
Will definitely need to customize this for our site's look so...
Don't want to purchase, customize, then repurchase (upgrade fees) and re customize. Too much time involved.

In addition, not much communication from aMember reps it seems. Here on forum nor in my helpdesk pre-sales request.

Looks to me like this is possibly being deserted. If no communication, I don't want to buy.

    elevent,

A couple examples of where Ajax comes into the picture for end users:

    1) Add to cart (shopping cart) style functionality for browse shopping support
    2) Login post functionality (existing login code does not support asynchronous login request for lightbox style login (etc)
