    Does anyone know what features are expected on the next major amember release?

    It is too early to discuss.
    I can say now :
    - it will be complete rewrite of code;
    - it will be multi-lingual;
    - it will use other templates syntax (easier and faster than smarty);
    - it will be easier to extend.

    It is about core. What about particular features - it is all in the way.
