    Hey all,

    I'd like to have just one product, but have the user be able to select a group. Because it's information being sold, I'd like them to be able to select their level of experience (which would then put them in that experience group). As time goes on, they would complete tasks and be able to "level up" into a different group.

    I'm considering using Joomla to partially do this, just to have different links/menus for different groups. There will be a lot of overlap for which groups have access to which information.

    Any thoughts? Am I making this more complicated than it needs to be?

    As long as the levels keep increasing, i dont see a problem.
    Any reason for using joomla over wordpress?

    I like wordpress more than joomla, I just know that joomla works well with similar functionality.

    And why only if levels keep increasing? It's set up sort of as a game, where the more activities you've completed, the higher you "level" (so to speak).

    I'm working closely with the owner and we've already bought an amember license. So now I'm developing the site.

    In joomla, the content is one level specific, i dont think you can say both X level and Y level get access. So you would need to have higher levels getting access to lower level stuff. Not sure if this is clear....

    There are joomla plugins that will show content based on group, like:
    Code:
    {group}content{/group}
    What I would like to present is more or less a dynamic reading list, like so:

    [IMG]

    The styling and specifics are off a bit, but you get the gist of it. :)

    At the bottom of each article, there will be a button to mark it as read.

    I don't require the articles to be made with a CMS, but I am just thinking that it may be easier to use a CMS to manage the the reading list and user profiles.
