If you are using First Data global payment systems then you will be using the Linkpoint plugin.

I found out Linkpoint only uses port: 1129 to access their server for payments.

If you are using a GoDaddy shared hosting account on a Linux server, you will not have access to this port. GoDaddy will only allow access to port 1129 if you have a dedicated or virtual dedicated server (vds).

Hope this saves someone headaches. :)

Have been working on the same problem for the last 8 hours... Are we sure this is true? Is there any way around this?

Yes this is true. And unfortunately there is no workaround.
So you need to change hosting, or payment processor, or purchase dedicated server.
for chared hosting, all requests from your server are handle through proxy and proxy does not forward requests to 1129 port.
