    Hello,

In about two months I am going to start my new membership site. Since it is targeted to the Spanish speaking world I would need alternative methods to credit card payments.

Not many people possess a credit card in Latin America, however payment via cell phone and sms is broadly excepted.

I wanted to ask you if there is any solution or payment plug-in for amember?

    Regards,
    Mallefitzo

    Mallefitzo,

The solution would be to find a payment service provider that accepts payments by SMS, then it may be possible to have a custom payment plugin written that will interface aMember to that provider.

    Cheers
    Rob

Onebip really sounds what I was looking for. Any idea how to integrate it with amember? Or know someone how could do it?

You can contact support for amember and they will tell you if they can do it. Since it is custom programming they will charge a fee $40. to $80 is around the normal for something like this.

The good thing is that there might be others out there (like me) that have been looking for a plugin like this and is willing to split the cost with you if you share the working plugin with them

The down side to oneip and I think you will find anywhere is the Carrier fees are 38%.

Meaning once you widthdraw your money for every $100.00 they are going to take $38.00 and leave you with $62.00

Seem very expensive if you ask me

I just had a look at this and it seems to vary by country and for Peru it's just 80%!!

    Thats not expensive it's extortionate.

From my experience this is fairly consistent for SMS payments. The reason the fee varies so much between countries is that is a surcharged from the phone carrier themselves, not the payment merchant.

The ringtone market killed SMS payments for everyone :-/
