    Hello all,

I am about to set up my first Paypal site, and just wanted to check in on this, as I have never paid much attention in the past.

What is the current, best pay to set this up? I know Paypal has a few different options (i.e. regular, business, enhanced recurring, etc), as does aMember when it comes to plugins/version.

I want to get this right the first time. What kind of Paypal account is the smoothest way to go, and which aMember plugin supports it?

If you want to accept credit cards/payment from people who do not have a PayPal account, you'll need the $19.99/month enhanced PayPal account. Otherwise, they will be forced to create a PayPal account in order to pay you. I know, PayPal wants you to pay them $19.99/month so you can help them make more money... We just dropped PayPal cause of all the problems they have. Such a frustrating company to work with...

So using the paypal_r plugin, if we dont want our customers to have to sign up to pay-pal (ie using PayPal Express Checkout), then we have to pay paypal $20 a month?

Is there no option in aMember for PayPal Express Checkout?

    amemberman,
There are three possible ways when paypal will not require to create an account for your users:
    1. Not recurring products.
    2. Paypal Premium Payments
    3. Paypal PRO with DPRP enabled.

In aMember you can use paypal_r plugin for first two, paypal_pro plugin for number 3

    credit card and paypal

If I have my membership set up as non-recurring payment but I give them a month to access the product every time they sign up. Does this also count as subscription and does that mean I cannot use credit card check out method in paypal? I want to be able to use credit card payment on paypal, how can I do that in this case?

    Thanks

If you want to use one months free trial, you have to set recurring to Yes.
So you will be able to take CC payments without paypal account if you will use Paypal Premium Payments or Paypal PRO.

What if I don't use the free trial, if I just sell the membership as one month, let's say $1.00 so that the user can access all these products in that month but then no recurring happen afterward. Will they be able to see the cc payment on paypal?

this is probably off this topic...Does paypal the only one handle credit card like this? Any other you would recommend without getting into the business account?

    Paypal buttons

This will be the first time I have attempted to use recurring billing.

I have a paypal business account. I just upgraded to include recurring billing and acceptance of credit card without a paypal account.

When I added this benefit I was directed to set up a lot of "buttons."

So, here's the question - do I need any of these buttons? Or, do I just set up amember, use the normal sign-up page and let amember and paypal talk to each other each month when the next payment is do?

Any insight to this problem would be greatly appreciated.

    Jim

Yes, but you still need to set up paypal to allow the paypal IPN to talk with amember.
I'm pretty sure paypal will force them to set up an account anyway if using a recurring billing.
