I'm getting fed up with fraud where I deliver an electronic service (nothing shipped) using Paypal as the payment processing company. Does anyone have a good solution or recommendation to migrate to another processing company?

How is PlugnPay? Authorize.net seems like a good solid alternative. No recurring payments needed for my use.

Ebay just bought Verisign so I'm going to wait to see what happens with this...

Google Wallet is around the corner, but I will not wait until then to change.

    Thanks!

Google Wallet looks great, especially if it'll do adult. That is a pending decision by google though.

Alex, I hope you'll integrate with google wallet when they come out regardless.

Of course, once specifications will be published, we will implement integration.

Thanks folks. I'll wait for G Wallet and in the meantime integrate an additional processing system alongside Paypal.

I paid the $750... sux but really needed VISA (which is what most of my transactions are).

I too have been searching for alternatives to paypal because of all the stories I have read about where people had their accounts frozen for no reason and their selling reputations ruined.

Do a little research and you'll see that most of these PayPal "frozen account" stories go back years, way before they were purchased by eBay. They have become Urban Legends.

The reality is, if you're doing bad things, or they suspect you of doing bad things, they have the right to freeze you. But the exact same thing is true of any standard mainline Merchant Account. They too will slam the door on your fingers if they suspect fraud. They ALL get their money first and ask questions later.

Merchant processors are federally mandated to "slam the door" if they suspect fraud. If you open your account estimating $1,000 per month in transactions and all of a sudden you are running $10,000 worth of transactions through, of course they'll suspect something is up and temporarily freeze things until they investigate it.

I've had no problem with PayPal... I'd be curious to hear more about the fraud that you're experiencing.

If you're reading this PayPal "fraud" thread, please note that gigaenvy started it in back in 2005.

As I said in an earlier post, PayPal is excellent now and can be trusted in my opinion. I have had a business account with them since 2002 and like them so much I finally dropped my Bank CC Merchant Acct last year.

Some people may think their fees are high, but they are low compared to the normal fees of a standard Merchant Account and all the hassle you have to go through to get one.

No one should be afraid of PayPal in 2008. If PayPal suspects fraud, expect questions. Regular people will find PayPal works for them just fine.

Google Checkout closed my account for no reason

I have implemented Google Checkout on my website just a couple of months ago as Paypal alternative, I mainly use PayPal. While supporting Google Checkout, I only received 4 or 5 payment via Google. I think 2 of them were cancelled by Google right away as high-risk (not my fault, right?). Suddenly, I find out that Google "dropped" my website, and closed my account. I had tried to contact Google to ask how come?, what happened?, what did I do wrong?, but no one ever got back to me... Is that normal?

I can't say this is exactly why, but the reason I got dropped is that Google Checkout requires that a customer can purchase product without signing up for an account on your site. aMember does not meet this requirement. It took them a few months to catch up with me before they took it down.
