How hard would it be to create a cront that would would at paypal subscriptions and if the subscription is listed as "cancelled", it would change the user account to expired, thus denying them access to the protected areas? When a user cancels a subscription, the account remains active which allows them access to protected areas. We need the status to change to expired.
The account will automatically expire once the payment period is over. Without knowing the details of your site, I think you would need to continue to allow access for the period for which they have paid. Unless you mean accounts that have canceled and have been refunded?
