Total "newbie" at aMember. I've downloaded the trail and I'm running it on my Mac/Apache office computer while I learn my way around. SO, I don't really have it up and "live" to try running a payment yet.

One bit of confusion, I don't seem to be able to set it up for PayPal only as a payment method. I can't figure out how to turn off "Credit Card Payment Pay with Visa, MC, Discover or Amex credit card". The client doesn't want to hand process cards or have card info transferred to them or use anything except PayPal. If PayPal is the only plugin active, will the second option (Credit Card Payment Pay with Visa, MC, Discover or Amex credit card) redirect to PayPal or have I got something setup wrong?

    Thanks,
    Tom

I'm not clear on what you are seeing, can you post a screenshot of your signup page?
If paypal is the only payment option you have enabled, thats all you should be seeing.

Thanks for the help David. It appears I need to do some research on what type of PayPal "aMember plugin" to use. The client has a "business" account at PayPal, so I set up aMember using the plugin "PayPal Pro" and that "seems" to be the issue. If I use the "PayPal_r" plugin, then only PayPal shows up as a payment option.

Any advice on matching a PayPal account to the correct of the three PayPal plugins would be very welcome!

    Hi Tom,
yes, you are correct...if just paypal_r is used it will not show the credit card payment option...that is a part of paypal_pro. It's up to you on how you want to handle it. paypal_pro will only work if your clients PayPal account is signed up for Pro. The plugin does not allow for auto-recurring subscriptions, btw(which hopefully one day gets rectified with aMember)so if you need those use paypal_r..paypal_r will work with generic PayPal accounts as well as Pro accounts.

Have your client log into his PayPal account and look in the profile....it will tell you what type of account. For instance, mine states "Website Payments Pro" with a status of "live" on it. There is also a "Payflow" type of account along with the 3rd standard account...doubt he has that. If it's just a standard account(personal or business) you'd use paypal_r. Btw, a PayPal user pays a bit more for the "Websites Payments Pro" useage and credit card payments are handled all through PayPals own gateway....your client wouldn't handle the transactions nor need to store any cc info.

    Thanks zenpig66,
This got delayed, first by the client making (slow) decisions and then by (more fun) a trip to Sequoia with my sister and family. The paypal_r is what I needed. Everything is looking good. Time to send aMember some $$$ for a license and replace the free trial version!
