PayPal Website Payments Pro with Recurring

First, I know this same question has been posted before so I apologize for the re-post, but after digging through the previous threads I am still left confused.

We have a drupal site with aMember installed (paid content, monthly subscriptions) and are just getting ready to start the payment processor integration; however we are unsure what is compatible and what is not. We want to use PayPal's Website Payments Pro with the Recurring Payments add-on. However, per some of the previous threads on here I am not sure this will actually work. If it will, what plugin do we need to purchase and is their any tweaks we should be aware of ahead of time.

If not, do you know what will (within the Paypal family of products)?

Also, PayPals Integration team was not sure if it would work or not, so they recommended the Website Payments Pro with Recurring add-on AND a custom integration of the Payflow utility. However, a much pricier option and I am betting a substantial higher amount of billed dev hours - so would like to avoid this option.

I am giving up a huge thanks to whomever can clarify whether this product will work or not, and what actually will.
