I am about to turn the switch on to the phpBB2 plugin on my website. I am having trouble getting my head wrapped around the users experience and process. I have a list of over 1,000 users in phpBB2 and they are aware that the membership pay will be turned on soon. I would like all of them to be expired when I throw the switch. I am charging a fee per year using PayPal Pro, which is all setup and tested. Questions are... 1. I want the current membership to be expired and they have to pay when they try to login again. What happens? 2. When new users signup and after a year is up, does amember just set user to disable? How does user know that they need to pay again? 3. Is PayPal Pro allowing recurring payments? Thank you, Don
1. You will need to export your customers from phpBB and import to aMember. On this step it will be necessary to assign all of them new passwords during import, because phpBB passwords cannot be decrypted. We can help with this step - contact us via helpdesk. After import, you will need to change phpBB settings to disallow free registrations, and require special usergroup (lets say named "Paid") to access forums. You can keep some forums to be available for free subscribers if you wish. Once this is done, you can e-mail customers subscription information with link to subscribe (/amember/member.php) and their new login / password info. 2. Yes. You can setup expiration notice at aMember CP -> Setup -> E-Mail 3. NO.
