Placing Setup.html Inside My Own Template?

Ok, I have seen posts about being able to modify the templates. But when i copy the html data from the signup.html page in the templates folder, and then I paste that data inside my "unlocked" portion of MY template page, I get script errors when accessing the page. The unlocked status is the editable portion of a page created from a template within Dreamweaver. SO, why is it that once placed inside my html, the data becomes useless? Do I need to enclose it in different php tags?

Your question is really confusing - I am not at all clear what you are trying to do!

But I think you are approaching this upside down :D

You can use header and footer files from amember to wrap the script pages in your own page layout. This is what you would do, rather than the other way around.

That means that the pages can be fully integrated into your design by just editing 2 files - header.html and footer.html in the templates folder.

There is more about this here:
    http://www.cgi-central.net/amemberdocs/cus...n/templates.htm

And a page here about creating header and footer files from your existing page design:

I appreciate your reply however, I do not use a header and footer type site. I use a templated site. I create a layout page within Dreamweaver and then save as a drawing template rather than an html file. Then, anytime I want to use the template which contains my header, footer, and menu, I just choose File-New From Template...and then I only alter the editable regions allowed. Does that make any sense? Now, I could redesign my site to use the include header and footer statement, but that would require more time than just modifying my signup page.

Why is it that when I place (copy&paste) the html code inside another html page, it no longer is recognized by Amember? The code is shown on the page as well as script errors. Since the name of the file remains the same, and there is no other php to confuse it, then it should load just fine. Or should it?

I understood perfectly what you do normally with Dreamweaver.

However what you are trying to do simply won't work.

What you need to do is this.

    1. Open your Dreamweaver template.
    2. Make a new page based on it called, say, amtemplate.html
    3. Replace the editable regions with whatever you want to be in them on the amember driven bits of your site.
    4. Save this page and then carefully follow the instructions on making header and footer templates that I linked to before.

I know this means that your amember pages will not be updated when you update the editable regions of your site. But all you will ever need to do to update the amember pages is edit either the header or foorer include pages, which is not a great hassle.

Lots of people, and though you may not be one of them I will mention it here anyway, believe that header and footer files just include stuff accross the top and bottom of a page. It ain't so. With header and footer styles you can emulate the design of the rest of your site precisely, no matter what it looks like.

This page is using amember with header and footer templates:
