Hi everyone, I am sorry for possible offtopic, but I need your help in find new web hosting provider as soon as possible, because my current host (bluehost.com) is kicking me off, they say 'your account is using a lot server resources', but my website gets only about 200 visitors per day and my disk usage is 1500 MB (maybe they do not like that?) Anyway, what would be your recommendations for getting reliable web hosting? Where are you hosting your websites? Are you happy with your providers? I am now checking http://www.hosting24.com/ - offer looks very nice, but is it real that they can provide unlimited disk space? I have contacted them about this question and they say something that "These days 500GB disk drive costs only $30 per month, so if some day we will run out of disk space we will simply add new 500GB disk drive with almost zero costs and you can continue uploading without any problems". What do you think about it? Maybe things have changed in last 4 years? With my current provider I get only 2GB of disk space for $10 per month.. Any ideas and suggestions are much appreciated.
Hello, If you go to bluehost.com it says you get unlimited disk space and bandwidth also. If you didn't know I assume your current plan is shared, and I assume hosting24.com plans are also shared. These are good prices for shared plans but I think you will always face the potential of having your account suspended. The issue is not so much the disk space but the CPU/Memory resources your site is using. Because there are literally hundreds of accounts sharing a server if you show the slightest blip in there monitoring tools then you will be flagged. Usually if the web host provides VPS or dedicated plans they force you to upgrade to one of these which is more expensive. This is the web hosting shared scam, as soon as you build your business up and start getting traffic you get flagged and have to upgrade and be in chaotic mode for a few days(weeks?) trying to upgrade depending on how skilled you are. So be careful about switching to another shared plan you will probably face the same issues. If your going to switch you might shop VPS prices. They are more expensive and you have to be more technically knowledgeable to run your site but if you are serious about your business then eventually you will have to go this route anyway. It becomes a matter if you are capable of managing a server yourself or if you have to pay someone to do it. Jimmy
Bluehost may be awesome, but I'm always VERY skeptical about "unlimited" packages as it typically suggest an oversold shared hosting. I would also suggest investigating MDD Hosting: http://www.mddhosting.com A couple of things that really stand out for me: 1) VERY PERSONAL attention that every customer gets. I really don't think those guys sleep. As a new customer, they will even migrate all of your data, databases, DNS, MX, etc. and update configuration files from your existing host to make sure everything is working like for like. (did I mention this is for free?) 2) They do NOT overload their servers. Unlike a number of hosting providers ( a few of which you have on your list ) they set reasonable limits and do not overload their servers. At the price you quoted you would get 3 gig storage and 30 gig bandwidth. While a number of hosts will give you 2 TB storage and unlimited bandwidth for $3/mo, first question do you need that and second questions how can they do that. You are most likely on a server with 3,000 other customers and are at high risk of being dropped if you see any real traffic. 3) Communication. They have near real time status updates of issues (if ever) and provide details to the level that you need. They have shared, virtual private and dedicated options available.
