Plug-in for Moodle Now Available! Moodlers, I have successfully integrated aMember with a Moodle site. Special thanks go out to Alex who wrote the plug-in and offered many rewrites as I tested the plug-in files. This integration is based on Moodle's ability to authenticate users and class enrollment against an external database. This integration requires very little modification to Moodle. Only 4 lines of HTML code in one Moodle file is required along with lots of configurations and language file changes. The official plug-in will be available from this site soon. In addition to Alex's files, the following items are included: Replacement thanks.html, signup_multi.html, login.html, and members_multi.html files A comprehensive Integration Manual that I wrote. You may see this integration at: http://autotech-elearning.com/moodle Remember that this site goes live on 7/15/2005 and all transactions are real! If you want to read the Moodle / aMember integration manual, you can download a copy from this link: http://autotech-elearning.com/amember/amember_moodle.doc By the way, in case you are wandering what Moodle is... It is a great open source educational package. The integration allows you to control Moodle registration and course enrollment with aMember. http://moodle.org/ Grant
Internationalization Hi Grant & Alex! I can see you have done quite a good job with the new Moodle plugin and the manual writing too. I really praise that! But I wonder if the aMember script is still only in English language? To be really useful it would be nice with a little advice on how we could translate the user interface to the language desired? Fx. Moodle supports 60 different language, so the least that must be possible should be a method/guideline to translate the aMember script's user interface. Alex, if you could you advice a guideline it would be good start. Thank you! Warm Regards Jens Gammelgaard (Denmark)
Jens. UNFORTUNATELY, aMember script is currently only English. It is very hard to translate. We are working now to make it multi-language, but I cannot promise restuls soon.
Kind Alex, I know it is in English only Maybe a model where the translation of the menues could be structures like the Moodle code with a lang.php file for the respective extra language - would that be the way forward - since I guess I would have to translate your scripts to Danish anyway?
There is no easy way to do this, because messages are located in lot of different files. It is possible to implement, but we choose to finish brand new version of aMember earlier, instead of extending current one.
Alex, Thank you for taking it in to consideration. Do you have rough deadline for that brand new version?
