I was using trial version of the software. I had tried to make the htpasswd_remote plugin work - but could not get it to work they way i wanted. So I left it alone. (I did not remove it from my plugins list)

Now I purchased the product, with some other plugins, but not the htpasswd_remote plugin. Now everytime I go to the any aMember pages, I get a warning showing up:

WARNING: Plugin file (/my/local/path/to/mysite.com/amember/plugins/protect/htpasswd_remote/htpasswd_remote.inc.php) for plugin (protect/htpasswd_remote) does not exists in line 54 of file plugins.inc.php

I do not see the plugin available anywhere in aMember-> CP -> Plugins where I can uncheck it. I even tried to place the original (trial version) files for the htpasswd_remote plugin to see if that lets me do anything - but that causes new problems - it does not let me see any aMember pages - just throws an error "Payment Plugin Error" - obviously thats not the case. So I end up removing the trial version files and I am back to that warning message.

Any clues at to how I can fix this?

    please create an empty file
    name it htpasswd_remote.inc.php
    and upload to amember/plugins/protect/htpasswd_remote.inc.php

    Sorry for this issue.

OK, I just had this same problem - two years later!

    The fix above should say:
Create a folder with the name of the plugin.
For example, for magento, it would be - amember/plugins/protect/magento
Inside this folder, create an empty file called plugin_name.inc.php
    For this example, magento.inc.php

Not very impressive that it happens in the first place, but that gets rid of the error message.

Thank-you it worked. However, I had to do it in the /payments directory not the /protect
