Protect WordPress custom taxonomy

    We have custom post types and taxonomies on our site and am looking to protect entire taxonomies, much like how it works for categories.

    Is it possible to protect a custom taxonomy? If so, how can I go about doing so?

    Are there procedures for this now? This seems to be the only article on the forums about custom taxonomies in Wordpress.
