I have not built my site yet, but I want to build my site using html. I read in the directions that php_include is the recommended protection method to use, however that does not support html pages. Then I read that php_include with mod_rewrite can protect html pages, but when I go to my aMember CP -> Setup I only see .htpasswd and PHPInclude at the top even though I chose new_rewrite on the plugins list. How do I protect html pages? I will create my site in php, however I really don't want to. Can someone point me in the right direction? Thanks.

Okay, I've actually figured out how to protect a directory using php_include with new_rewrite; so my question now is after I have created the folder and protected it, do I put my files (home page, images, additional site pages) in that folder? I created a test page and put it in the protected folder, but when I tried to access it from the browser directly it allowed me to ... so I did something wrong. Can someone help? Thanks. Sorry for all of the questions, I'm just somewhat new to this and I'm under a crunch to get this site functional before the end of the year (yes that's by next Friday). :(

Do Logout, then close all browser windows, open new one and try again.

Still able to access protected page? Which HTML editor/publishing software do you use? Is it FrontPage?

Okay, that worked and everything is almost great. I am just a little confused about something and the manual isn't making this very clear:

I created a test folder and protected it. Then I created a test page called index.html (just in notepad; really simple the screen says "Hello"). Then I set up a product with the URL being http://www.mysite.com/subscription_educator/index.html. And last I set up a new member to access this product. But when I log in as the client it does not take me to the "hello" page it gives me the following error:

    Not Found
The requested URL /subscription_educator was not found on this server.

So my question is how do I get it to work so that the client loggs into the site and it takes them to the index.html page? I know the page has to be in the protected folder, but is the protected folder supposed to be in the amember folder?

    P.S. I'm using Dreamweaver.
