    Hi Everyone,

I'm usually a pretty quick study, but some of the configuration in aMember for whatever reason is really stumping me. Its a great product and I'm eager to get it fully configured so I'm reaching out to the community to see if I can get some help.

I do understand the concept of folder protection in aMember, but I'm not 100% sure which protection I should be using. Should I only be using 1 or can/should I be using more than one?

I'm going to have a membership service based on subscriptions. I only have one product, but I have set up three different subscriptions that can be purchased for a month to month, 3 month period and a 6 month period so no matter which one a customer might pick they all go to the same product.

I am using the personal folder plug-in because (as soon as I can figure out how to have my customers automatically go to their own folder that aMember creates for them after they pay or when they log in again - but one problem at a time I suppose) I want to be able to personalize the template pages I create with information such as their name and so forth.

There will be no files to download, but I will have instructional videos (flash based) that will be in a common folder in my aMember folder called videos that will need to be protected as well and will be called from the web pages in each paying member's personal folder.

Any help that anyone can offer me I'd be so grateful. I'm getting close to having this all set up and I'm eager to open it up and give it a full test!

    Thank you so much everyone!

I think you should be using an integration like amember/wordpress.

With the amprotect plugin you can use shortcodes in wordpress to show their name etc.. I'm not sure why you are using the personal folder plugin- unless you want to give them PDFs etc. specifically made for a specific member.

For folder protecion, use "new rewrite". Sounds like you can use one protection for all the products (3 mos, 6 mos, etc.)
You can then create a link to the product in the amember product setting using additional URLs or, you could create a link to the content in a wordpresss post/page.

I'm using personal folders because I want each customer to have their own "web page" which I have created and placed in the template folder. I want people who are subscribing to have a place they can enter information to track their progress and provide them with some motivation or goals while adding some penalization options. Using personal folder with aMember is the only way I've found to do this that is within my start up budget.

Right now I have htpasswd, new_rewrite, and php_include checked. If I'm understanding you correctly I should remove the rest and just use new_rewrite?

Thanks for the help, David. I really do appreciate it.

No this is not necessary to disable other methods.

No, leave them. I meant if you are protecting a folder like /goldcontent/ use new_rewrite.
the personal folder plugin will use htpasswd protection for the member content.
