Hi Guys, I would like to remove the "subscribe to newsletter" on sign-up and on the Main Page under your membership information. http://careerjourney.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2011/02/Picture-5.png Sure its simple but cant find it in the forum. Thank you, Nik
in the template file amember/templates/member_main.html remove the newsletter section:
#_TPL_NEWSLETTER_SUBSCRIPTIONS#
etc.. David
If this option is removed, is a user then by default subscribed or unsubscribed to member emails? (I assume that simply taking out the option leaves the user either one way or the other.)
Well, I tested it and if those lines are commented out, the user is by default not subscribed. Should have figured. Can anyone help me take those lines off the signup form but keep the user subscribed? Is there a hidden way to keep the box checked? Thank you. (By the way, I'm not trying to be spammy. My problem is that customers uncheck the box. Then they don't get the email instructions with how to download their products/use my site, and then they write to me to ask for directions -- so I have to email them manually. I figure their payment is the opt-in.)
Can you explain the difference between the newsletter and the autoresponder? I have my messages set to go out by auto-responder but if they uncheck this box, they don't get the autoresponder messages either. So what am I doing wrong, or misunderstanding? I wasn't purposely trying to use the newsletter, it is just there. In amember control panel by the subscription box in the user profile, it says: This is what I don't want people to uncheck during signup. If there's a better way to do this, I'm all ears! Thank you.
Interesting... I never noticed that the control panel subscription checkbox controlled anything but newsletter subscriptions. The newsletter is a separate beast from emails to members. In theory, nobody should be subscribed to the newsletter unless they proactively signed up for it. But whether or not they did that, that should not be affecting your ability to communicate with them via autoresponder or email to members. I think you'll need clarification from the powers that be.
