I have a quick question on how the renewal group functions. Lets say I have 2 products: Product 1: Monthly -- recurring Product 2: Yearly -- NOT recurring Both products set to the same renewal group. I understand that if a user has Product 1 and they decide to upgrade to Product 2 (yearly), then the yearly subscription will begin when Product 1 expires, like this: Monthly subscription from April 1 to April 30 On April 15, user buys one-time Yearly subscription, which will begin on April 30. Question: Does this mean that product 1 (monthly recurring) will be automatically canceled? In other words, the user will receive no more monthly charges because the yearly (one-time) payment will take over? In the example above, I just want to make sure that user will not be charged for a monthly subscription on April 30. Thanks for any help!
Unfortunetaly signing up for a new product does not cancel the other product. So your member will get renewed on product 1. They will need to cancel or you will need to cancel them. I think this has to do with the payment processor as much as the amember system- for example with paypal you have to log into your account to cancel a subscription. David
Thanks, David. Two more questions.. 1) Is there any way to create a scenario like I mentioned above? Where a monthly version is automatically canceled when a yearly version is purchased, perhaps with custom coding? 2) Is this also the case with a customer re-ordering the same monthly recurring product? In other words, if they have Product 1 (monthly recurring) and order Product 1 again (for example, to benefit from a discount sale)... will it create two monthly recurring payments?
Not that I'm aware of. Usually you set the product not to be displayed if they are currently active for that subscription. If you allow them to order, they will be signed up for a second subscription to the same product. David
