Hi Alex another suggestion! can we please have a facility to set flags on each user to allow them to opt-out of either automatic emails or announcement emails? In UK, we have various Data Protection & Spam Email regulations which say that a user must be able to opt-out of receiving these types of email. At the moment, I cannot use automatic emails as I have no means of allowing a user to opt-out - I'd be breaking the law! Thanks, Mark
Mark, this feature is just finished (10 minutes ago, LOL) and will be included into upcoming 2.3.0. Here is current list of 2.3.0 changes: - it is now possible (but still very dangerous!) to delete a product that has active subscribers; - it is now possible to disallow product subscription if user has some other subscriptions (new field in product settings was added); - unsubscribe feature added - setup.php will now try to guess cURL path - affiliate program is ready for beta-testing; - brand new "paypal_r" - now able to intilligently handle both recurring and not recurring transactions. beta-testing required; - old "paypal" plugin has been removed; - 2Checkout plugin problem fixed; - bug fixed in account sharing prevention routine - new_rewrite bug fixed (it did not protect folder index file) - ability to search payments by product title added - added option to limit renewals (aMember CP -> Setup -> Advanced) - invision2 plugin added; - vb3 plugin supports assigning several usergroups to member; - cc_core doesn't display error message when enable new plugin; - bug fixed - sending notification to admin about internal account changes; - bug fixed - renewal_group is now used when ordering multiple products; - several admin accounts can be created with different permissions; We expect 2.3.0 release by end of the next week.
Hi Alex, regarding the new unsubscribe feature in 2.3.1 - does this also stop users receiving emails that are manually created from the Admin CP in Email Users? Thanks, Mark
Thanks Alex, I just took a look at templates/admin/user_form.html ... in the changes there it says that unsubscribe also stops user receiving subscription expiry emails too! Why is this - shouldn't user continue to receive emails that relate to status of their account? Regards, Mark
Well, I guess if user wants to unsubscribe, he has no interest to your site and may be tired by messages. So, unsubscibe button will stop the following: - emails sent from aMember CP -> E-Mail - "autoresponder" messages - account expiration notices; All other emails will be sent as always. What will happen if we make this other way: user tired recieve messages from you, he presses "Unsubscribe" link and some time everything OK. But, when he receives account expiration messsage, he is gettings crazy and report this as SPAM. I believe it is real scenario...
Hi Alex, maybe... but my viewpoint is different! I would expect clients to receive all emails about the state of their account and would put this in the unsubscribe text and terms of service. If they don't want to receive autoresponder emails or manual notices that's cool! I think it's great that you've added the unsubscribe facility, but I think it could have more flexibility. Can I make a request for future version please - unsubscribe options are added to user profile, so that they can choose which emails not to receive. If they change their mind, they can change options back in their profile. Unsubscribe link in emails could then take them to member page to update their profile? Also, admin can have choice of which email types appear in profiles for user to select/deselect? (autoresponder / manual / expiry / etc) Thanks Alex, Regards, Mark
Pangdene, I completely agree with your comments, will implement something in next version. If you need solution for your particular case, contact support with FTP info.
Roni, what exactly you want to find? Almost all outgoing email messages have unsubscribe link automatically (in 2.3.2)
oh, i get it, i did not email my customers till now, so i have no idea what they will receive, i thought that i will enable a field in the member.php file so the can cancel thier name completely from my DB and unsbscribe from any futher email. thanks
I missed a very important point I can really see where the automatic emai lwill be usefull, but where do you store the example.txt file for the software to find it? Dave Jackson www.schoolofpodcasting.com
