Hi Alex and others One more question: we are thinking of having one free subscription and a few different levels of paid subscriptions. To encourage people to get paid subscriptions (of course ) we would like to restrict the affiliate program to paying members only. Is this possible somehow? It is possible to do as modification. However, I'm not sure if this policy is correct. When peoples are earning money, they earns only a little. You, as site owner, get lot more. So, I never saw websites that charge affiliates to signup. Have a look around - affiliate signup is free on all websites without exceptions. So I don't recommend to do what you want. Of course, it is only my opinion. You are site owner, and you decide.
Thanks Alex It is not that we want to charge affiliates, being an affiliate would only be a bonus to our subscription. The main game is to get subscriptions. It is that we think we need a free entry level subscription for our site, and want to find any way possible then to encourage them into a paid subscription. On the issue of customisation, we see it mentioned a lot. Does any customisation make it more difficult to upgrade, especially for a non-PHP-er? In other words, do you have to redo all customisation after an upgrade? Cheers John
Yes, customization may cause problems for upgrades. However, it depends on files changed. Customization you are asking for will affect only one file.
